The Broadband UK Campaign

This page is dedicated to helping ensure that UK Internet users do not miss out when broadband technologies are finally made available. To achieve this users need to pressure their telephone company, local government representatives and OFTEL, else we may find ourselves stuck with dial-up connections indefinitely.

This site is mainly concerned with getting the message across that UK Internet users are paying too much for too little as far as Internet access is concerned. The links below contain both factual information about broadband technologies, as well my own opinions.

What broadband technologies can offer Internet users

Why broadband technologies are important to the growth of the Internet in the UK

Why BT is so reluctant to introduce broadband technologies

The role of OFTEL in the situation

The difference between 'free' and 'unmetered' calls -This one is a must read for BT executives

If you want to help the campaign, you can write to your local MP or OFTEL. A great deal more information is available from www.unmetered.org.uk. The uk.telecom newsgroup is also a good place to see some reasoned debate on the subject. If you wish to participate in a live debate then the people from unmetered.org.uk can be found on IRCnet on the #CUT channel from 9pm on Sunday Evenings. If you like this page and would like to start a similar one, then feel free to use any information on this site , indeed you may copy the entire site if you wish and place it on your webspace. If you wish to contact me I suggest looking for me in uk.telecom I post under the name Pine. I have not left an email address as I am in the process of changing ISP, and I am determined to keep my current address spam free. If you are seeing this text as a paragraph instead of a banner then I suggest upgrading your browser :-)

This page is dedicated to the memory of innovation, may it rest in peace. If your name is Kieran then you are too strange to visit this site, might I suggest you go here.
